Services Rate Sheet

The rates on this sheets are for consulting services provided personally by me, Claude Ostyn, directly to you. Fees are based on your specific requirements and are negotiable for specific circumstances. Longer or recurring engagements typically warrant appropriate discounts. If you have any question or comment about this rate sheet please do not hesitate to contact me. The rates below are for guidance only. I strive to provide high value with low overhead.

I am fully committed to abide by ethical principles, such as those spelled in the Code of Ethics of the Independent Computer Consultants Association (http://www.icca.org/ethics.asp).

Rates (guidelines only):

Rates are in US Dollars (USD)

• First 30 minutes - Free
• Short email or phone reply requiring no additional research - Free
• Hourly - $200, billed in 1/2 hour increments, minimum 1 hour
• Daily - $1250
• Weekly - $5000
• Post mortem evaluation of consulting engagement - First hour free.

Daily and Weekly rates are based on the following assumptions:

• One day is 8 hours in a single calendar day
• One week is 5 days in a single calendar week

The rates above are for work that does not require travel to the customer's site. Considerable savings can be accomplished by doing the work using telephone, e-mail, other Internet technologies and fax. I am familiar with online conferencing with or without video.

If the work requires travel, the following conditions apply:

• Customer will reimburse reasonable travel costs, including transfers and airfare.
• Customer will reimburse reasonable lodging, subsistence and local transportation expenses, or provide a per diem appropriate for the location.
• Travel to a location less than 1000 miles from Seattle requires a commitment of no less than one day, or equivalent fee.
• Travel to a location 1000 to 3000 miles from Seattle requires a commitment no less than two days, or equivalent fee.
• Travel to a location 3000 miles or more from Seattle shall require a commitment of no less than one week, or equivalent fee.
• Travel time is not billable, except to the extent where work is required during travel time, or travel involves extraordinary time or hardship (e.g. more than 15 hours one way travel time or more than 8000 miles).

Additional expenses that may be required, e.g. international phone calls, virtual conferencing services, special hardware, software or services, will be billed on an actual cost basis. Setup time for special hardware or software will be billed at normal consulting rates. For example, if I need to set up a server to test a customer's software, the customer is expected to pay for rental of the server and the time required to set it up.

As mentioned above, these rates are for guidance only. Actual fees are based on your specific requirements and are negotiable for specific circumstances.
